Basic Layouts for Kitchen Cabinets, Appliances, and Plumbing Read more at Su

Attractive, functional kitchens don't just happen; they're carefully engineered, either by hand or using architectural software. The concept to start with is that there are three basic task areas to coordinate; these are food storage (refrigerator), cooking (stove/microwave), and cleanup (sink/garbage disposal/dishwasher).

These three areas are configured in such a way that travel between them is efficient and convenient. It turns out that the best way is to have each area be a point on what's called the kitchen work triangle. Food preparation like slicing and dicing can be done anywhere inside the triangle or in some cases, on an island counter just on the outside edge of one of the sides of the triangle.

The U-Shaped Kitchen Layout

In this layout, three cabinets are laid out in a U-shape. The cleanup sink and dishwasher area are in the center of one side, the refrigerator food storage on another, and the cooking area on the third. This leaves an open area in the center that allows for more than one person to work comfortably if the kitchen is large enough.

Dominate the World from The Volcano House

In the dusty desert lands of Southern California, two hours east from the city of Los Angeles, lies the Volcano House: a concrete modernist masterpiece that sits on top of a small volcanic peak. Truss beams and heavily-laid concrete formed the desert dome, which radiates a sort of tongue-in-cheek brutalism that screams 1960s American modernism both inside and out. For all of its exterior charm and interesting location, what would this location be without ten subterranean floors equipped with henchmen barracks and villainous shark tanks? Once you get your rocket launching pad permitted, be sure to install a vintage 1960s-era computer to control it’s targeting system… I mean, what’s the use of good interior design if there’s no consistency?

Opulent Bathroom Collection from Duebi Italia

The Onda Collection from Duebi Italia just comes to show us, once again, what the prestigious company is all about. As usual, in this particular set of interiors, there were no compromises : the items are modern, the spaces are large, and the overall feeling is that of luxury and opulence. If we didn’t know better, we would say that the pictures were taken in a spa center, due to the relaxing chairs that are present in the general design. Eccentric mirrors, fluffy rugs and modern cupboards, they all complete this collection’s richness. Here is where you can get in contact with the company for further information.

Curved Leather Unit, An Original Interior Design Tool

The pictures bellow are an extract from a larger project- a residence located in Hampstead Village, United Kingdom. The place had to be redesigned and the team to do so was Belsaiz Architects. Their brief stated that they should turn the house into “a modern home, full of light, and to ensure that there was a “ wow” factor”. The curved leather unit was not the only such pleasantly surprising factor, but a very important one. It was to become the focus point of the redecorated residence and its symbol. The structure “houses” a table for six and has spots of light spread throughout its surface.

Today’s Furniture Theme : The Sea

“Shiver me timbers!” is what comes to mind when taking a look at these amazing furniture sets from Caroti. Inspired by the restlessness of the sea, the designers took the idea to another level and created unique furniture items. Each example in the pictures comes up with something new, whether that is a helm, a miniature ship, an imprint of a pirate, a treasure chest or a bunk bed. Each item is fresh and original. We are not sure about the company’s target, but we believe that both adults and children would be more than happy to own one of these bedrooms.

All-Utilities Tree House from Bates Masi Architects

Most children dream of a tree house.Adults however know the feeling of comfort which is why for most of them the idea of spending hours and hours in a wooden “box” hung in a tree is not all that attractive. Here’s where Bates Masi comes in with this ingenious tree-house equipped with all the utilities and accessories a normal, “ground-placed” house has. All the rooms have a rustic touch but they are very well individualized, meaning that you can absolutely tell the difference between the bedroom and living-room fore example. Moreover, the place has balconies from where to enjoy a breath of fresh air and admire the view.
